Video Poker is a popular game that can be enjoyed in casinos all over the globe, or in your house on your personal computer, through an Internet account. The rules are very straightforward and consist of the player attempting to get the best combination of cards achievable in order to acquire cash. In this respect it is very similar as a classic game of poker, minus the interaction with competing players. Of course, techniques used in a real-life game of poker, like bluffing, will be irrelevant in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the machine and presses the play button. A 5 card hand will then be "given out" on the screen.
The Electronic Poker game also has buttons with ‘hold’ printed on them, and bettors should now pick which cards to keep and which to discard. For the cards the player would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can choose to keep any number of cards they wish, from all to none.
After the gambler has selected which cards he or she wishes to keep, they should press ‘deal’, at which point any new cards will be dealt if desired. The game is now finished, with the Video Poker machine analyzing the hand to see if it is the same as any of the winning hands printed on the payout schedule.
Generally, the lowest winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money growing for each and every better hand. A list of common winning hands begins with jacks or better, moving on to two pairs, three of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the payout schedule can vary from machine to machine, so that discerning bettors are agile enough to select the most beneficial machine each time.
As soon as the initial round has finished, the player can either decide to remain on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to cash out any cash that they may have won. Further, several versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their winnings, in which situation another hand is played. There are also differences between specific machines, with some decks of cards including wild cards and other varying elements to increase playability.
