Electronic Poker is a favored game that can be gambled on in casinos throughout the world, or alternatively at home on your home computer, using an Internet connection. The rules are absolutely straightforward and involve the player attempting to get the best assemblage of cards possible in order to acquire money. In this respect it is much the same as a normal game of poker, minus the interaction with any other players. Of course, techniques used in a physical game of poker, such as tricking, will be useless in Video Poker.
The game of Video Poker starts when the bettor inserts credits (either tokens, tickets or cash) into the video poker machine and pushes the play button. A five card hand will then be electronically ‘dealt’ on the screen.
The Electronic Poker machine also has hold buttons, and gamblers should now decide which cards to keep and which to throw away. For the cards the enthusiast would like to retain, the ‘hold’ buttons must be pressed so that they illuminate. The player can decide to keep any amount of cards they want, whether it’s all or none.
After the bettor has selected which cards he or she wishes to retain, they should press ‘deal’, which will mean that any new cards are given out if desired. The hand is now completed, with the Electronic Poker machine scanning the hand to see if it matches any of the winning hands listed in the payout schedule.
Typically, the minimum winning hand on a Video Poker machine is a pair of jacks with the award money increasing for each better hand. A common list of winning hands starts with jacks or better, and moves on to 2 pairs, 3 of a kinds, straights, flushes, full houses, four of a kinds, straight flushes and last but not least royal flushes. It is obvious that the pay out schedule can change from game to game, so that discerning gamblers are agile enough to choose the most beneficial game each instance.
After the first round has completed, the player can either choose to continue on in an attempt to increase their winnings, or they can press the ‘collect’ button to retrieve any credits that might been won. Further, some versions of the game allow the player an opportunity to double their wins, in which instance another hand is played. There are also variations among individual machines, with some virtual decks including wild cards and other differing elements to enhance playability.
